    The Creation Story

In 2023, Our Solid Roots Association had the opportunity to work with the Indigenous community of Eden Valley, capturing the Old Stoney language through Elders and Knowledge Keepers. The Creation Story details the Stoney peoples version of creation in a charming storybook, written in Old Stoney and translated to English. The book launch was celebrated through an event with food, prizes, and community. Our Solid Roots Association recognizes the importance of preserving language, culture, and history.

    Indigenous Elders Leading the Way

Our Solid Roots Association worked with the Indigenous community of Eden Valley to create initiatives for healing for those who have struggled with substance use. By utilizing ancestral knowledge and consulting with Indigenous Elders, we seek to preserve Indigenous culture and history and support their autonomy in health and wellness. Forging a path forward together, we recognize this journey starts with listening and learning.

Afro and caribbean black elders leading the way

As part of our mission for empowerment, Our Solid Roots Association collaborated with members of the Afro and Caribbean community to discuss substance use and ways to improve support systems and offer resources to survivors. These insights are gained through community engagement and provide us with valuable perspectives, informing us on paths towards healing.
